Tehreek organizes and runs a range of activities responding to the needs of the communities in Lucknow and engaged in policy and advocacy reform at the local, state, and national level.
Training: Tehreek empowers women and girls by training them on human rights and women's rights including violence against women, health and human rights, and the right to education. Tehreek also trains women to engage with government and religious leaders to demand the realization of their rights.
Laws and policies: Tehreek advocates for laws and policies that will increase the realization of women's human rights at the national, state, and local levels.
Case Management: Tehreek manages and responds to women who have been mistreated by the Caste Panchayaat, the community court system in Lucknow, which often gives women unjust and harsh penalties. For example, a young woman was recently made to parade nude around her village as punishment for a visit from her fiancé. In a highly publicized case one woman who was raped by her father-in-law was forced to marry him in the name of justice. Tehreek mobilizes the community to overturn and respond to such decisions and supports women in their fight for justice.
Education: Through different fundraising schemes, Tehreek provides school fees for over 100 young people who reside in slums in and around Lucknow.
Health Camps: Tehreek organizes government and non profit organizations to provide health services in the community including general health screenings.
Communal Harmony: Tehreek plans peace marches, vigils, and statements to advocate for a secular society in which all people are respected. Tehreek acts to oppose all forms of violence and speaks out against communalism in India.
Bharatiya Muslim Mahila Andolan: Tehreek is a founding member of the All India Muslim Women's Rights Movement.
